Fuck Times Square

Happy New Year all y'alls... what's everyone up to? We're headed to the frozen beach. Huzzah.

Struck

Anyone have any good transit strike/commute stories? I stood in a 20 block-long line in Jamaica, Queens for almost 2 hours this morning, resulting in an approximately 3.5 hour commute. I still can't feel my ass.

Riches and Ho Ho Hos

One of my cubemates is participating in a secret santa program for kids affected by Katrina. She just got her recipient's information -- 13 year old girl -- and her wishlist. It is as follows:

iPod
Laptop
Video PSP
Playstation 2

She, of course, was thinking it'd be something more along the lines of a Malibu Barbie.

So in the spirit of giving, riddle me this: What totally unreasonable item do you want for the holidays?

Personally, I want organization. I want someone to come into my office, file everything with perfect labels and brand new folders, get rid of old stuff, make everything beautiful and clean and accessible. Then they can do our apartment -- clean, organize, build us more closet space, replace my dresser with one with a shirt drawer that actually opens, find jaw-droppingly innovative storage solutions, the works. As it is now, my life is a craphole full of crap, piles and piles of crap. I can't find anything. All I want is this.

andrew and tori, don't look.

have any of you cats heard about this nyc magic garden dealie? it kinda seems like a tiny little bit of a hoser-fest, but i'm nonetheless kinda curious about exactly what kind of hoser goes to these things. one clue might be found in the third picture (and some others) in the slideshow from the pictures section which reveals that at least one stuy grad has gone to one of their events. his name and year escapes me, though...
