Is anyone planning on checking out the "Ashes and Snow" exhibit? Sounds pretty neat.

Also, I was wondering what y'all thought of The Gates... Dom and I went to see it, and while we were both sort of underwhelmed aesthetically, I know I was impressed with the scale of it, and with the huge amounts of planning that must have been necessary. Plus, the fact that the park was packed on a saturday in February is pretty impressive.

i thought they were great. i thought that though the color is a mite fugly, it's still pretty striking, especially in the snow (plug). and besides the financial gain to the city, and all of the practical reasons why the gates are a "good thing" i really like that it's brought such a huge chunk of new yorkers together... if not physically, then at least in so far as the gates was all that anyone was talking about when they opened and still now to a degree. the last two times that new yorkers all had one thing on their minds were the RNC and september 11th. i just think it's kinda great that new yorkers have something positive to all talk about.

I love the color, peoples, it was gorgeous! But then again, you all know how much I love orange. I think that for those of us who loved the gates, they were great to see, and fun to watch, and well were awesome for a whole host of reasons. For those of you who felt like you wasted your time coming to central park, well, you didn't have to go out in the first place. In the end, it's still central park, and you with or without the gates, there's not too much to do on a saturday in february there.
Yadda yadda yadda, they r0x0red
